Wiki versus Web Site
- When the user experience will be more or less static, e.g., without dynamic database driven content - WIKI
- When collaboration is important - WIKI
- When sophisticated web authoring skills are not needed (or not available) - WIKI
- When there are institutional barriers to web authoring but not wiki creation, e.g., SharePoint is available on your desktop - WIKI
- When you need an easy way to deliver RSS or email updates - WIKI
- When you need tight editorial control on content - WEB SITE
Wiki versus Blog
- When you want multiple contributors, rather than one - WIKI
- When content is subject to frequent editing - WIKI
- When you need to present information hierarchically - WIKI
- When you don't plan to update published information - BLOG
- For data that can be categorized and reorganized by the user on the fly (as a simple database) - BLOG
- For current awareness - BLOG
- Blogs are usually arranged in reverse chronological order, but may be arranged in categories
- Blogs generally were newsletter equivalents, while wikis were more like books, but the distinction is blurring
